This is Spider, he’s my dog. He’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and he’s currently 9 years old. He’s the sweetest thing, albeit slightly spoiled and has managed to charm anyone he’s ever met, even people who aren’t into dogs. He even has his own fanpage.

This past week he has been getting progressively more ill and was not eating his food and on the evening of December 27th, was rushed to an emergency vet clinic where we discovered he has severe Diabetes Mellitus (insulin-dependent diabetes) and DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis, a severe, potentially fatal side effect of uncontrolled diabetes). His blood glucose levels were very near 500 when they should have ideally been between 100 and 140.

He was put on fluids and he is currently undergoing treatment to reduce the ketones in his blood and urine so he will be able to eat again and thus able to begin insulin treatment which he will require for the rest of his life. Because he hasn’t been eating, there’s no way around this procedure, which is rather costly on top of the expense of his bloodwork and x-rays in order to discover the diabetes and DKA in the first place.

I am offering special rates on a few of the commissions I offer in order to attempt to recover some of the cost of the vet bills that have accumulated during this ordeal. Spider will be on insulin following his release and these supplies will be an additional expense that will be more difficult to cover with the drain on funds the bills have created.

For $15 USD you will get a custom ACEO (art card) illustration or badge on 2.5x3.5” bristol paper done in ink, marker or colored pencil (or any combination of the three). Alternatively, you can get two custom ACEO illustrations for $30 (normally they would be priced at $20 and $40, respectively). In this special instance, shipping is complimentary, however I am not offering lamination on badge style commissions due to the additional time it would add to each piece.

I am also discounting my cel-shaded digital chibi commissions to $20 USD instead of $25 for a single subject/character. These cannot be shipped to you but each one includes a high-res, print-friendly version as well as a smaller, web-friendly version.

I will also be accepting commissions for any of the services I normally offer, but at the normal price and the special commissions will take priority if a queue forms. Additionally, my print shop is always open and offers things such as stickers for under 5 dollars. I realize times are difficult right now and money is hard to come by, so every little bit helps, no matter how modest.
